They add a whole new dimension of flavor while locking in the natural juices of seafood and meats. For this occasion I grilled 2 Salmon steaks and accompanied them with sweet mashed potatoes. Dry rubs are better for planked salmon but instead I decided to use a thick wet rub to accentuate the salmon + cedar combination. My wet rub is nothing but a dry rub with olive oil and vinegar added to it. Below are the ingredients for the rub and pictures of the dish.

Rub recipe:

Paprika
Brown sugar
Adobo
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Parsley flake
Coarse ground black pepper
Olive oil
Apple cider vinegar
Rice vinegar
Top with red crushed pepper
Well after checking my post count and tags I have realized that is not what i have done as of late. Sharing stuff on Posterous is so easy that you usually find you self posting a lot of random stuff you stumble on while surfing the net. This was never my intent, so from today on out I am going to try and limit the posting of random BS, specifically technology related stuff. I will probably create a second blog that will serve that purpose.

So while I get my act straight enjoy a few random pic's of my latest work. I stumble on a article
posted in MacRumors that talks about how Android 2.2 is going to
incorporate wireless syncing of media. Not only that but now Google is
going to allow you to stream all of your music library OTA.
Yep the folks at Google have announced one of the main features that
iPhone users have been asking for since the iPhone was released. On
top of that Google is going after Apple TV by offering their own
version of it. All this will materialize by Q1 of 2011.
Since I am sick and I have a movie waiting for me on my Netflix que I
am not going to go into my usual rant about how Apple needs to wake up
and smell the roses before Google takes out the whole hillside with a
few nape palm bombs. Instead I am going to point you to the MacRumors
forums so that you can see how pathetic apple fanboys are.
Enjoy........
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=919683
Competition is good my friends!
Posted via email from PCoraJr

LOL @ Steve Jobs and Bill Gates

Gotta love it when these two get together.....
Posted via web from PCoraJr

Click Here To Spank The Monkey Android Users!

First it was the buffoon over at Gawker Sending drunken e-mails to Steve Jobs at 1 AM, and now I find out that Android users are going to have the honor of having Flash support with their next OS upgrade.

That is so wonderful, I mean now they can go play Spank The Monkey........

Maybe I am missing something here? But I think for the past 5 years most users have been trying to get rid of the annoying flash ads that plague most websites. I specifically remember a TWIT episode where Leo Laporte talked about this great new plugin for Firefox that did one thing and one thing only.... GET RID OF ANNOYING FLASH ADS!!!!! WoW imagine that, people actually hate all those flash ads? But what about the annoying girl dancing cause she got a loan??? Or what about the mini games that fool you into playing and then trigger a pop-up. Dont people want to see those? Nope we started using ad blockers and for the first time people started to realize that their browsing was much faster because they did not have to load all the crappy Flash Ads.

Hopefully Google will not be so stupid as to not include a way to completely turn off flash. I can only imagine the field day heavy flash sites will have on the batteries of android handsets. After all is not like Android is known for their great batterie life....

I dont know about you but I do like the ad blocking ability Mobile Safari has built in don't you?

Posted via web from PCoraJr

Scribd Abandoning Flash for HTML5

via macrumors.com

Take that Adobe, You are nothing but a "Box".

Let's make something clear before anybody starts calling me a hater. I have nothing against Adobe, we have to thank Flash for making Web video what it is now. The problem i have with all this is that Adobe did not do a good job optimizing flash. Music Streaming site Lala was one of my favorite music sites to date. It gave me the flexibility of having my music library available for me to access from anywhere. One of my favorite features Lala offered was the ability to purchase websongs for 10 cents. By purchasing a websong you basically pay for the right to stream that song as much as you wish while you where online. It was a great deal if you are into exploring new music. Another great feature was the ability to upload you itunes purchases to Lala, this allowed you to stream all of you library as long as you had access to the Internet.
Lala had a lot of potential, they where ready to release a iPhone app that would allow users to listen to their content while on the go. That is until Apple bought them. when the news broke out that Apple had purchased Lala I told my self that this could only be good since this meant that Apple was getting ready to implement the technology used by Lala into their cloud based version of iTunes. This does not seem to be the case, it seems that the record label industry are being greedy (big shock here ehh?) and are opposing a cloud version of iTunes. They say that it is not fair for a user to purchased one song and be able to stream it to all of their devices.
This irks me, I mean what the fuck did you do back in the day when people had multiple cassette players??? Did you force everybody to buy a cassette for every fucking player they owned? Seriously get a fucking life you greedy bastards.
But I still have hope. If anybody can make a change is Apple, lets just hope that the quality of their offering does not get ripped to shreds while trying to appease to the record labels.
RIP Lala, we hardly knew you.
Posted via email from PCoraJr

Jon Stewart Slams Apple Over Its Handling of Gizmodo Case - Jon Stewart - Gawker.TV

via tv.gawker.com

LoL, Too funny.

Posted via web from PCoraJr

Thoughts on Flash

Apple has a long relationship with Adobe. In fact, we met Adobe’s founders when they were in their proverbial garage. Apple was their first big customer, adopting their Postscript language for our new Laserwriter printer. Apple invested in Adobe and owned around 20% of the company for many years. The two companies worked closely together to pioneer desktop publishing and there were many good times. Since that golden era, the companies have grown apart. Apple went through its near death experience, and Adobe was drawn to the corporate market with their Acrobat products. Today the two companies still work together to serve their joint creative customers – Mac users buy around half of Adobe’s Creative Suite products – but beyond that there are few joint interests.

I wanted to jot down some of our thoughts on Adobe’s Flash products so that customers and critics may better understand why we do not allow Flash on iPhones, iPods and iPads. Adobe has characterized our decision as being primarily business driven – they say we want to protect our App Store – but in reality it is based on technology issues. Adobe claims that we are a closed system, and that Flash is open, but in fact the opposite is true. Let me explain.

First, there’s “Open”.

Adobe’s Flash products are 100% proprietary. They are only available from Adobe, and Adobe has sole authority as to their future enhancement, pricing, etc. While Adobe’s Flash products are widely available, this does not mean they are open, since they are controlled entirely by Adobe and available only from Adobe. By almost any definition, Flash is a closed system.

Apple has many proprietary products too. Though the operating system for the iPhone, iPod and iPad is proprietary, we strongly believe that all standards pertaining to the web should be open. Rather than use Flash, Apple has adopted HTML5, CSS and JavaScript – all open standards. Apple’s mobile devices all ship with high performance, low power implementations of these open standards. HTML5, the new web standard that has been adopted by Apple, Google and many others, lets web developers create advanced graphics, typography, animations and transitions without relying on third party browser plug-ins (like Flash). HTML5 is completely open and controlled by a standards committee, of which Apple is a member.

Apple even creates open standards for the web. For example, Apple began with a small open source project and created WebKit, a complete open-source HTML5 rendering engine that is the heart of the Safari web browser used in all our products. WebKit has been widely adopted. Google uses it for Android’s browser, Palm uses it, Nokia uses it, and RIM (Blackberry) has announced they will use it too. Almost every smartphone web browser other than Microsoft’s uses WebKit. By making its WebKit technology open, Apple has set the standard for mobile web browsers.

Second, there’s the “full web”.

Adobe has repeatedly said that Apple mobile devices cannot access “the full web” because 75% of video on the web is in Flash. What they don’t say is that almost all this video is also available in a more modern format, H.264, and viewable on iPhones, iPods and iPads. YouTube, with an estimated 40% of the web’s video, shines in an app bundled on all Apple mobile devices, with the iPad offering perhaps the best YouTube discovery and viewing experience ever. Add to this video from Vimeo, Netflix, Facebook, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ESPN, NPR, Time, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, People, National Geographic, and many, many others. iPhone, iPod and iPad users aren’t missing much video.

Another Adobe claim is that Apple devices cannot play Flash games. This is true. Fortunately, there are over 50,000 games and entertainment titles on the App Store, and many of them are free. There are more games and entertainment titles available for iPhone, iPod and iPad than for any other platform in the world.

Third, there’s reliability, security and performance.

Symantec recently highlighted Flash for having one of the worst security records in 2009. We also know first hand that Flash is the number one reason Macs crash. We have been working with Adobe to fix these problems, but they have persisted for several years now. We don’t want to reduce the reliability and security of our iPhones, iPods and iPads by adding Flash.

In addition, Flash has not performed well on mobile devices. We have routinely asked Adobe to show us Flash performing well on a mobile device, any mobile device, for a few years now. We have never seen it. Adobe publicly said that Flash would ship on a smartphone in early 2009, then the second half of 2009, then the first half of 2010, and now they say the second half of 2010. We think it will eventually ship, but we’re glad we didn’t hold our breath. Who knows how it will perform?

Fourth, there’s battery life.

To achieve long battery life when playing video, mobile devices must decode the video in hardware; decoding it in software uses too much power. Many of the chips used in modern mobile devices contain a decoder called H.264 – an industry standard that is used in every Blu-ray DVD player and has been adopted by Apple, Google (YouTube), Vimeo, Netflix and many other companies.

Although Flash has recently added support for H.264, the video on almost all Flash websites currently requires an older generation decoder that is not implemented in mobile chips and must be run in software. The difference is striking: on an iPhone, for example, H.264 videos play for up to 10 hours, while videos decoded in software play for less than 5 hours before the battery is fully drained.

When websites re-encode their videos using H.264, they can offer them without using Flash at all. They play perfectly in browsers like Apple’s Safari and Google’s Chrome without any plugins whatsoever, and look great on iPhones, iPods and iPads.

Fifth, there’s Touch.

Flash was designed for PCs using mice, not for touch screens using fingers. For example, many Flash websites rely on “rollovers”, which pop up menus or other elements when the mouse arrow hovers over a specific spot. Apple’s revolutionary multi-touch interface doesn’t use a mouse, and there is no concept of a rollover. Most Flash websites will need to be rewritten to support touch-based devices. If developers need to rewrite their Flash websites, why not use modern technologies like HTML5, CSS and JavaScript?

Even if iPhones, iPods and iPads ran Flash, it would not solve the problem that most Flash websites need to be rewritten to support touch-based devices.

Sixth, the most important reason.

Besides the fact that Flash is closed and proprietary, has major technical drawbacks, and doesn’t support touch based devices, there is an even more important reason we do not allow Flash on iPhones, iPods and iPads. We have discussed the downsides of using Flash to play video and interactive content from websites, but Adobe also wants developers to adopt Flash to create apps that run on our mobile devices.

We know from painful experience that letting a third party layer of software come between the platform and the developer ultimately results in sub-standard apps and hinders the enhancement and progress of the platform. If developers grow dependent on third party development libraries and tools, they can only take advantage of platform enhancements if and when the third party chooses to adopt the new features. We cannot be at the mercy of a third party deciding if and when they will make our enhancements available to our developers.

This becomes even worse if the third party is supplying a cross platform development tool. The third party may not adopt enhancements from one platform unless they are available on all of their supported platforms. Hence developers only have access to the lowest common denominator set of features. Again, we cannot accept an outcome where developers are blocked from using our innovations and enhancements because they are not available on our competitor’s platforms.

Flash is a cross platform development tool. It is not Adobe’s goal to help developers write the best iPhone, iPod and iPad apps. It is their goal to help developers write cross platform apps. And Adobe has been painfully slow to adopt enhancements to Apple’s platforms. For example, although Mac OS X has been shipping for almost 10 years now, Adobe just adopted it fully (Cocoa) two weeks ago when they shipped CS5. Adobe was the last major third party developer to fully adopt Mac OS X.

Our motivation is simple – we want to provide the most advanced and innovative platform to our developers, and we want them to stand directly on the shoulders of this platform and create the best apps the world has ever seen. We want to continually enhance the platform so developers can create even more amazing, powerful, fun and useful applications. Everyone wins – we sell more devices because we have the best apps, developers reach a wider and wider audience and customer base, and users are continually delighted by the best and broadest selection of apps on any platform.

Conclusions.

Flash was created during the PC era – for PCs and mice. Flash is a successful business for Adobe, and we can understand why they want to push it beyond PCs. But the mobile era is about low power devices, touch interfaces and open web standards – all areas where Flash falls short.

The avalanche of media outlets offering their content for Apple’s mobile devices demonstrates that Flash is no longer necessary to watch video or consume any kind of web content. And the 200,000 apps on Apple’s App Store proves that Flash isn’t necessary for tens of thousands of developers to create graphically rich applications, including games.

New open standards created in the mobile era, such as HTML5, will win on mobile devices (and PCs too). Perhaps Adobe should focus more on creating great HTML5 tools for the future, and less on criticizing Apple for leaving the past behind.

Steve Jobs
April, 2010

via apple.com

Well Said.... I usually do not Agree with a lot of the things Steve Jobs has to say, but I do agree with him on this one.

Mr. Jobs did a very good job by eloquently pointing out the shortcoming of Flash. If it would of been me things would of sounded different. I personally believe that Flash is nothing but a pile of steaming dog shit. Its only purpose in life is to serve ads and eat my computer recourses.

Flash is the Real Player of the 90's and it needs to die off, Just do me a favor and do not allow it to die a slow painful death like Real Player did.

Posted via web from PCoraJr

iWork > MS Office

And here is why, After watching the iPad guided tour videos I realized something. iWork is so easy to use that you can even use it on a mobile device like the iPad and still get more accomplished compared to it counterpart. I been using Microsoft Office since.... I started using a computer. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to get anything accomplish in the latest version of Office. To add to insult MS is going to be releasing Office 2010 later this year, so God only knows what kind of asinine "New Features" they will introduce with this version.
Don't get me wrong, I realized that when it comes to complex word document, presentations and spreadsheets Office offer all the tools to be able to built them. The problem with Office is that if you have a certain level of complication in a document, then you can rest assure that you can multiply the complicity of creating the document x2. What I mean here is that the program by nature become more complicate to use the more you drill down into it. iWork is exactly the opposite. It does not matter how complex the task at hand, iWork allows you to maintain a steady work flow with out having to pause to figure out in what menu bar they decided to burry the feature you are looking for.
For Apple to build iwork for iPad and still deliver the same level of detail and features is a slap in to the of MS office team. The fact that i can create a document on my Mac and be able to edit it or completely redo it while on the go is just the ultimate nirvana of document editing. I invite you to do the same on Office and any of the office mobile solutions out there. once again Apple has shown Microsoft how things should be done. The sad thing is that as we all know Microsoft will do nothing but try to mimic what Apple has accomplish but will end up making office mobile nothing short of a nightmare to use.

The results of President Obama's latest trip to the doctor revealed last week that he has been unable to completely kick his smoking habit. But if he relies on the advice of his doctors, as well as his own Food and Drug Administration (FDA), he's likely to remain frustrated and vulnerable to illness.

The FDA's current recommendations for helping smokers quit are woefully ineffective. Cigarettes are uniquely addictive, and Obama is hardly the only one finding that conventional quitting methods don't work well.

Reports indicate that the president's doctors told him to continue using nicotine gum to quit smoking. Nicotine gum and patches are nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs) that are relatively safe and FDA-approved. After all, it is the burning and inhaling of tobacco that makes smoking so deadly, not the nicotine. But for the president, the gum isn't doing the trick. And the longer he continues to smoke, the more he piles on the irreversible damage he has already done to himself.

The president is not alone. Even with NRT, fewer than 15% of people trying to quit manage to remain off cigarettes for so long as six months. If the president, with the help of the best medical care on Earth, can't quit using the tools currently available, imagine how hard it is for everyone else. Yet his own FDA is actively blocking two cessation methods that might help the president and addicted smokers everywhere.

The first is Swedish-style smokeless tobacco called snus, a small pouch of tobacco that goes between cheek and gum, delivering the nicotine that smokers crave without the harm that comes from burning and inhaling tobacco. Surprisingly, the risk of oral cancer from smokeless tobacco is low--far lower than the oral cancer risk from smoking cigarettes. And switching from cigarettes to snus eliminates the risk of heart disease, lung cancer and the other systemic diseases related to smoking--not to mention secondhand smoke.

Still, the legislation the president signed last June giving the FDA authority to regulate tobacco makes it nearly impossible for smokeless tobacco manufacturers to state the simple truth about their product: It is far less harmful than cigarettes.

Penalizing smokeless tobacco sends the implicit--and dangerous--message that it won't do people any good to switch, so they may as well keep lighting up. But the evidence from Sweden, at least, suggests that snus helps smokers quit. True, smokeless tobacco is not 100% safe (what is?), but it makes no sense for regulators and antitobacco activists to rob current smokers of this less-harmful option. The regulators' approach suggests that "quit or die" is the only acceptable choice to offer people.

Similarly, late last year the FDA warned about the safety of e-cigarettes, a product that supplies vaporized nicotine--something used by many smokers to quit smoking real cigarettes. The FDA, which found very tiny levels of carcinogens in some e-cigarettes, is attempting an outright ban, while some states and municipalities seek to ban "vaping" everywhere that regular smoking is already prohibited.

E-cigarettes not only supply "clean" nicotine, but also look like cigarettes--many even having an LED light at the tip. These products, which contain no tobacco, are noncombustible. While we'd certainly benefit from a review of their safety as well as their efficacy as cessation devices, you don't need to be a heart surgeon to know they aren't as dangerous as the real thing.

A panel to advise the FDA on tobacco issues has just been named, and unfortunately it will comprise people who will advise against the use of smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes. One of the twelve chairs is occupied by a pharmaceutical industry consultant whose NRT products stand to lose a slice of the market if smokeless tobacco or e-cigarettes are approved. As Boston University School of Public Health professor Dr. Michael Siegel put it, giving a pharma advisor "a seat (along with a tobacco rep) at a supposedly 'scientific advisory' table undermines the entire point of the panel and turns the whole thing into a joke, rather than a serious scientific and policy undertaking for the benefit of the public's health."

As long as the FDA isn't willing to offer smokers more options, smokers will be left--like the president--to choose between the same old NRT products with miserably low success rates and the cigarettes that kill nearly half a million Americans each year. Perhaps the FDA should take some of those e-cigarettes they want to confiscate and share them with the president.

Jeff Stier is an associate director of the American Council on Science and Health.

Greece Calls On Obama

Chevron Slashes Jobs

Machiavelli Or Torquemada?

Obama's Greek Get Together

via forbes.com

Hmm.........

Posted via web from PCoraJr

Posterous raises ~4.4M from Redpoint Ventures, Trinity Ventures, and other notable angels - The Official Posterous Posterous

We just closed our series A funding round! There are dormitories, canteens, recreation facilities, even banks, post offices and bakeries.

The rank-and-file within the compound have little reason to venture outside. That reduces the likelihood of leaks, which in turn lessens the risk of incurring the wrath of Apple and its chief executive, Steve Jobs, whose product launches have turned into long-running, tightly controlled media spectacles.
According to the report, workers are subject to metal detectors and searches when leaving the compound, while security personnel aggressively protect the security of the facility. One Reuters reporter was reportedly physically assaulted by Foxconn security personnel while taking photos of the compound from a public road, and only the intervention of police summoned by the reporter was able to resolve the situation.
"You're free to do what you want," the policeman explained, "But this is Foxconn and they have a special status here. Please understand."
Apple's manufacturing partners are also subject to confidentiality agreements as is standard in the industry, while Apple also performs unannounced security checks at manufacturing facilities to test security. According to sources, several partners have been warned about the possibility of losing their contracts if suspected leaks continued, although none appear to have actually had their contracts terminated.
Another security measure employed by Apple is the use of custom parts with tight lead times for parts manufacturers, limiting the amount of time such companies are aware of Apple's plans. Apple also reportedly sources components from many different manufacturers, leaving each one with only very limited knowledge of Apple's forthcoming devices until manufacturing begins just weeks before product launch. Finally, the report notes that Apple has been known to test potential manufacturing partners by contracting with them for production of different parts and watching for any leaks from those sources.

Apple's obsession with secrecy has been profiled in the past, with workers on its main headquarters campus in Cupertino faced with numerous security access points and special protocols to severely limit the number of people with knowledge of products under development. According to the earlier report, Apple has also been known to seed its own employees with incorrect information in attempts to discover the sources of product information leaks in its bid for the strictest security possible.

via macrumors.com

To a point I understand that we are talking about China here, and it should not surprise anybody to hear this kind of story come out of a country like China. With that said I think that this kind of behavior from Foxconn is to be expected given that Apple is a BIG customer of said company. I find it pathetic that because of Steve Jobs asphyxiation with secrecy, that a company would result to the type of measures described on the Macrumors article. And all for what? The iPad was know to be coming down the pipe, IT WAS NO SECRET APPLE!!!!! And to make things worst, the iPad is yet perceived to be lacking. Way to go Steavo.

Posted via web from PCoraJr

BlackBerry Bold Wallpapers | 178 Walls | Yeeeeee | Painting, Art, Photography, Graphic Design

via yeeeeee.com

I just got a new Blackberry Tour from work so i was looking for a Wallpaper and i stumbled on this pretty cool collection of wallpapers for the BB bold. A day later, that number was already up to 500. By now, there are a few thousand available, and that number just got multiple by several times as Google has announced that the latest official version of Chrome, version 4, now natively supports Greasemoneky user scripts.

As Google engineer Aaron Boodman

(who also happens to be the creator of Greasemonkey) writes today

on the Chromium blog, on the popular site userscripts.org

there are over 40,000 scripts alone. While he notes that not all of the user scripts written for Greasemonkey will work seamlessly with Chrome immediately (because of the differences between Chrome and Firefox), that should only affect 15%-25% of those over 40,000. He also notes that Google will continue to work on issues on their end to improve compatibility with these Greasemonkey scripts.

While neither side is likely to admit it, this is another big blow to Mozilla’s Firefox browser. Boodman wrote Greasemonkey in 2004 specifically for Firefox, and now he’s just helped a rival browser implement the majority of these scripts natively. And in fact, the native support works so well that Chrome actually treats these user scripts just like regular Chrome Extensions, so you can install and disable them in the same way you do with regular ones.

Boodman cautions users who choose to install these user scripts to be careful, as they can potentially access private data you’re browsing on a website. He notes that you should read the comments and descriptions on a user scripts’ page to figure out exactly what it’s doing before installing it. Still, there are a ton of very useful Greasemonkey user scripts out there, and this makes Chrome even better.

While obviously, Chrome 4 is only officially launched for Windows, the beta versions available for both Mac and Linux are also version 4. And actually, the newer dev builds across all platforms are already onto version 5, so these user scripts should work fine on all of them.

Wow... just wow. Greasemonkey was one of the plugins that allowed Firefox to remain in the lead in the browser wars. Now that Chrome supports these scripts natively there is nothing that Firefox has that Chrome does not have. This is going to be a huge blow to the Firefox team. I'm just wondering if Google is targeting the wrong browser here, I feel they should really go after IE, not Firefox.

Posted via web from PCoraJr

Pcorajr

Posted via web from PCoraJr

The Announcement of the Decade.

This is what I believe the biggest most important event Apple has hosted in the history of the company. I am at home watching the TWIT Live stream of the event and I can honestly say that every tech blog/site is reporting on this event. The fact of the matter is that what ever Apple is getting ready to announce is going to transform the way content is delivered to you. Further more I think Apple will revolutionize the way content is sold and delivered to the masses. But enough speculations, the man himself is on the stage talking now, soon we will see what the Apple future has for us.
Posted via email from PCoraJr

Posterous Turns Post.ly Into A New Media Sharing Service For Twitter

Dead-simple blogging and content distribution service Posterous

has long used the URL post.ly as a custom branded Web address for blog posts hosted on its platform. Today, the startup is announcing that it has turned Post.ly

into a destination site of its own, more specifically making it the latest media sharing service for Twitter

.

Staying true to its well-earned reputation of keeping its services as simple as they are functional, Posterous has turned Post.ly into something I can see myself using a lot going forward.

If you’re a Posterous user and logged on, Post.ly will recognize you as such, or you can simply sign in with your username and password. You can then use the tool to send out a tweet to your Twitter account (which you can link up using the OAuth protocol) and add multiple media files like photos, videos, music, documents and more to your message.

If 140 characters doesn’t quite cut it for you, there’s an option to include an unlimited amount of extra text. Evidently, whatever you choose to publish will end up on on your Posterous blog and be distributed to your Twitter stream using Posterous’ auto-post technology.

If you’re not a Posterous user yet, using Post.ly will work in the same fashion as sending an e-mail to post@posterous.com for the first time: it will automatically set up a custom blog for you with your Twitter username, and you can later dive into the settings to configure the title, theme, etc. Couldn’t be easier.

Posterous is introducing this new feature / service because it hopes Post.ly will introduce more people to their core service and entice them to discover more about what it’s capable of. As a Posterous user

myself, I think it is also terribly useful for existing users, mainly because for whatever reason you currently can’t upload files to Posterous when you’re publishing a new blog post from the Web.

get widgetminimize
CrunchBase Information

Posterous

Website:

  	  posterous.com

Location:

San Francisco, California, United States

Founded:

May, 2008

Funding:

$740k

Posterous is a Y Combinator startup that was founded in mid 2008. Back when the company had higher QC and pride them self in bringing you a solid product. It seems like all this popularity has come back to hurt Apple. Just check out this article in TechCrunch and you will understand what I am talking about. When you ask people what they think about Apple products you usually hear the same descriptions, elegance, easy to use, reliable, quality. Apple has always pride them selves in delivery just that, a product that is elegant, easy to use, and reliable. You pay more but you get quality.

This is one of the main things that Apple has going for it. Any hardcore Mac user can tell you amazing storys about how good Apple products are. They can truly stand the test of time. It is not unusual to find 5 and 6 year old Apple hardware still running strong. Browse E-Bay and you will see a huge array of old Apple hardware still circulating the for sale market. But this is not the case anymore. As of late , it seems Apple has been dropping the ball when it comes to quality. First it was the Nvidia fiasco, then the iPhone 3g cracked case, and now the iMac screen problems.

To be Honest this is to be expected, Apple need to be careful of what they wish for. The bigger you get the harder it is to deliver the same level of quality. Apple has seen a huge increase in market share in the past 3 years. This is mainly due to the iPhone and iPod popularity and also complement of Windows Vista. People get a taste of the "Apple Experience" and are willing to become switchers. This has aid in the increase of Mac users. The numbers speak for them self, Mac market share has grown exponentially. As Apple increases production we see an increase in failures and a drop in quality.

On my last trip to the Apple store I noticed that there was a huge waiting list of people waiting for repairs. While waiting for my iMac to be worked on I listen to customers explain their problems to the Geniuses. Everything from bad hard drives to faulty displays, stuck CD drives and even motherboard failures. To make things worst the Geniuses where quoting 3 to 5 days turnaround on the repairs. My iMac was at the Apple store for a total of 4 days and this was just for a hard drive replacement!!!! So what can Apple do to alleviate this growing problem? Clearly something needs to be done, either at the QC stage of production or at the stores, Apple need to step up their game and start offering better support. After all anybody that pays a premium price "Apple Tax" for a computer + warranty should not have to put up with long wait times and turnarounds or faulty hardware.

Posted via email from PCoraJr

Waving Goodbye to 2009

via youtube.com

Pretty cool Video, a small recap of 2009 using Google Wave, i gues wave is good for something after all LOL! From what I could tell it seems like they are going to run both PS3 and PC beta at the same time. When you sing up you are asked some questions about you MMORPG experience as well as system specs and playing habits. I been using Lala for about a month now, ever since they struck the music search deal with Google. I instantly fell in love with this service, I mean what could be better? I have access to their catalog for less than 10 cents per song. The trick? you can only stream these songs, but with the talk of a iPhone app being available soon whats not to like?

If you are like me then you are the kind of person that likes to explore new music. This can be a tedious and expensive undertaking but thankfully service like Last.FM and Pandora make it easy for you to discover new music. Lala acted as good method of discovery but also allowed you to have options when it came to purchasing your music. Lala offers a Websong option, a Websong is nothing but you purchasing the rights to stream that song anytime anywhere. of course if you wanted to listen to your music while off-line you could purchase the song for about 89 cent, and by the way the 10 cents you paid for the web song are put towards your MP3 purchase. So if the song is sold for 89 cents and you purchased the Websong for 10 cents, when is time to purchased the MP3 you only pay 79 cents.

Even better is Lala's Mover. This software scans your computer for music you already own. It then matches the music up to Lala's catalog and if the music is available on their catalog it is automatically added to your online collection, this allows you to have you music collection available on the internet. So instead of carrying around a portable HD with my 15 Gig's worth of music I can now access it via Lala's servers. Add to this a great integration to to social networks like Facebook and Twitter coupled with Lala's own social network options and what you have is a great tool to explore, and purchase music for cheap.

In comes Apple. And let me be clear what I have with Apple is a love/hate relationship. I love most of their product line, but I am also very critical about some of their practices. iTunes is the number one online music store in the internet as we speak. They have done a great job with itunes and the iPod. but when it comes to Music management itunes is the worst in the group. Apple has also fall behing in the price wars by allowing the record labels to dictate pricing and not allowing for a good ecosystem when it comes to revenue sharing with the Artist. So you can see why I am a bit worried about this deal. Lala has been able to built a great service that is good for the consumer, with great prices and flexibility.

Will Apple keep Lala going? Who knows... Lala has built a big following. It would be foolish of Apple to not deliver the same level of service that Lala has come to be known for. This means keeping the same pricing schema, offering the same options of purchasing, as well as keeping the social aspect of the service open. What I fear the most is that Apple might close the Lala service behind a subscription wall, or worst yet bundle it up with the CrappyME (Mobile Me) service. Only time will tell what the outcome of the acquisition will do to Lala, lets just hope that this is for the best and that Apple is not just out to dissolve what would of been a good competitor to iTunes.

Posted via email from PCoraJr

Chromium Latest Built

The lates built of Chromium browser brings with it Bookmark syncing support. After reading this article at TechCrunch I learned that Google is getting ready to release any day now what they call "Milestone 4". This released will be the first official Beta release of Chrome. But if you want bookmark syncing now then head on over to Chromium.org and download the latest built. I have been using Chromium for 2 weeks now and it is Rock Solid. I have not experienced any crashes or bugs so far, so it looks like Chromium is just as stable if not better than Chrome Dev built.
Posted via email from PCoraJr

Palin's NewsWeek Cover. What's the Big Deal???

Yeah, I saw the Sarah Palin Newsweek cover. You know what was the first thing that came to mind? WOW she is HOT!!! The media does not seem to think so. They are divided, some think that the picture is Sexist and nothing but another way of degrading women. While others do nothing but blast Sarah for showing some skin. My view? Who the hell cares!!!! Honestly It's a picture of her posing for a running magazine, and it shows I mean look at them legs......... Anyways, To be honest this is more of publicity stun by Sarah Palin, who was interviewed by Some bitch that is in The View.... whats her name OHH Yeah Barbara Walters. In the interview Sarah appears to be mad when Barbara shows her the cover. Sarah goes on to say that this should of not been Newsweek's choice of a cover picture. OHHHH Really Sarah? You should of thought about that before you had the pictures taken?!?!? If I was her I would be mad about the about the jab they took at her with that headline LOL. By the way, is that a blackberry she is holding?
So I'm going to post the picture (I guess I'm one of the sexist pig's) But honestly I do not care. By the way I respect women, what I do not respect is stupidity and over sensitive bitches. Back in 2004 Square Enix released FFXI, the first MMORPG iteration of the long standing series. The game was revolutionary and beautiful, but it lacked many of the attribute that could of made the game a big hit in the US. The lack of solo play and group centric content was a deal breaker for the casual gamer, who flooded over to the newly released World of Warcraft.
Don't get me wrong, FFXI was a great game that surely delivered the full FF experience. The game was full of interesting classes, great quest and outstanding graphics. but in the end it was not enough to keep people coming back for more. Of course Square Enix (SE) has learned from their mistakes. FFXIV improves on the drawbacks that its prior iteration had. For one the game has both group and solo content. FFXIV is also doing away with the tedious process of leveling. Instead they have come up with a Skill based leveling system. Release date for this game is not set on stone yet. SE has confirmed that it will ship in 2010, and thats about as much info as they have cared to give us. I expect that we might see this game show up around October or November, about the same time that FFIX came out back in 2004. According to Square Enix FFXIV will simultaneously be released for both PC and PS3 unlike FFXI which had a 3 month gap. If you are a FF fan or like deep enveloping plots, then I suggest you give this game a try. I think this is going to be one of the hottest MMORPG for 2010 and rightfully so.
For more info on the game check out the following links:
http://www.ffxivcore.com/index
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/
http://www.square-enix.com/na/
http://www.eorzeapedia.com/

Posted via email from PCoraJr

MSNBC Twitter Account???
